Pastor’s Summit

Battipaglia, Italy (January 2026)

I just returned from a pastor’s summit sponsored by Pastor Mauro and Coni Girgenti. It was rich in worship, fellowship, and refreshing for all who attended. These are just some of the pastors who attended. Times of sharing among the pastors was very rich. I was pleased to make new friends and also to renew connections with Sicilian pastors Lisa and I had ministered for back in 2019 (Pino and Graziella Lotito from Agrigento and Pino and Juliana Baldarelli from Comiso). I was also privileged to do various sessions with the pastors, and also to speak in two different churches in Battipaglia.

Worship was particularly dynamic, and it was great seeing all of these leaders diving into honoring God with all of their hearts. Click here to enjoy some of the worship.

The picture of the pasta (delicious) is self-explanatory. There is another dish shown here that I don’t know how to describe. I was pleased to see this pastor’s copy (facsimile) of a 1607 Diodati Bible. It was translated directly from the Hebrew and Greek by scholars in Geneva to serve the needs of Protestants in Italy.

During one afternoon’s free-time, Pastor Gaetano Sicilia and I went to nearby Salerno to visit the eleventh-century Cathedral where the relics of the apostle Matthew are kept. Click here to watch the brief video I recorded there.

On the way to the airport to leave the country, Giovani Caponigro, along with his wife and niece, drove me up the Amalfi Coast so that I could visit the Amalfi Cathedral (a ninth-century church) where the relics of the apostle Andrew are kept. Click here to watch the brief video I recorded there.

I left Italy full of gratitude and appreciation for Pastor Mauro and Coni, and for the many servants of God who have labored and are laboring there to preach the gospel and to see people established in the powerful truths of the Word of God. I was blessed by their great fervency in worshipping God and their great hunger for the things of God.
